All small businesses who aspire to success must strive to satisfy their customers. As all businesses are nothing without their clients, they have to identify the basic needs of customers and satisfy them as much as they can. Most business ideas come up as a result of entrepreneurs identifying the needs of a product or service. As such, it will not make sense if an entrepreneur identifies these needs for a product or service and does not offer it. Below are customers’ needs that small businesses must consider when selling their products and/or services.
One of the main needs of customers is to have a variety of products or services that they can choose. Customers need a range of options businesses provide to satisfy them. As such entrepreneurs should make available a range of products and services that suit different groups of customers. When buying items, customers have different needs and as such they need choice and flexibility in products. In a clothing shop for example, customers might want different types of clothes, different sizes. Similarly, a restaurant owner would need to offer different meals to carter for a range of customers.
Customers always expect a level of quality in all the products or services they go in for no matter the amount of money they disburse for it. Generally, the amount of money they are willing to pay determines the quality of the product or service they need. Low prices often mean a lower quality product or service and higher prices mean higher level of quality. Likewise, they need a fair price when purchasing your products or services. Low prices will draw in more customers. Also make it a habit to match your price with the quality of the product or service you sell. Coupled with this is the fact that customers always need to be informed about all the products and/or services you sell as well as the quality.
Take Customers’ time in to consideration. Customers' time is valuable and all businesses need to value their time and show their customers they care about it. One of the main components of customers’ experience is when their issues are identified and resolved quickly. As such, all businesses should ensure they take good care of their customers as fast as possible, hence satisfying one of their basic needs.
Customers need convenience in all the products and services and most at times, they are willing to pay more for it. For most of the products or services they go in for, they expect it to be made easy for them to purchase it without them having to move up and down. For example, customers may prefer to buy online rather than going to a shop. For the convenience of staying at home, customers prefer to pay extra money for delivery.
Customers need friendliness and empathy whenever they come to you for a product or service. They need to know your business understands what they want and that you are willing to satisfy their needs. Being polite and welcoming to your customers will make them loyal to you. They need to know they are well taken care of and that attention is paid to all their needs. People are emotional and need to be taken care of with much courtesy and consideration. To make your customers remain loyal to you, you should provide this friendly and joyful atmosphere whenever they are in your establishment.
As a small business, you need to empower your customers by showing them that they have an influence on the outcome of your business. Listen to their ideas on how you can improve on your products or services and use it to improve on your business. Most important, take all their needs into consideration to ensure your customers' satisfaction.
